A Better Way to Get Your Photos

One of the things I really wanted to do this year was to find a better way to get clients their photos.  I’ve had a few instances over the years where clients have gotten their CD’s but were unable to get them to work on their computer and now I have a few MAC users who don’t have CD drives.  And so I started exploring options and I am super excited to announce that I am now offering clients their galleries through PASS.  Here are just a few reasons why I’ve fallen in love with PASS:

– PASS offers beautiful online galleries that stay active for 30 days.

– You can download your images directly from your gallery.  This means no more waiting on your CD to arrive in the mail!

– Selections for your prints and albums are also made easier because you can select photos to include in a Favorites folder.  No more selecting by image number!

– You can share your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and via email with just one click.  And friends and family can leave you a message on your guestbook.

– PASS also offers professional, lab quality prints at affordable rates in three sizes: 4×6, 5×7 and 8×12.  Yes, 8×12 is not 8×10 but it can easily be trimmed to fit into 8×10 frames and although 8×10 has traditionally been my standard crop, I will be switching to 8×12.  It’s a difference that you won’t notice but it will make printing through PASS easier. Honestly, there is no place that is comparable to a professional photo lab for prints and PASS can give you affordable prints without having to upload your photos to another site.

– Any gallery can be upgraded for $29.  Upgrading allows you to download your photos all at once vs. one at a time and it will also keep your gallery active for one year.  In addition, your photos will be backed up by PASS for 10 years.

-PASS also offers a free mobile app.  Your photos will be at your fingertips so you can show them off no matter where you are!

I’m really excited to make this change!  I will be offering thumb drives by request and for larger galleries (events, etc.), but I think clients will prefer to just download them directly to their computers.  Check out PASS for yourself and tell me what you think!

A New Look

I’ve been in business for just over three years now and although I know I still have so much to learn, I think I’ve grown so much since I started.  Last year left me thinking that I really wanted to give my business some direction.  I would much rather be great at a few things than just ok at many.  I know a lot of that comes with time and experience, but it also comes with focus.  It seemed like the perfect time to update my brand design so that it better represents my work.  Seems like a simple enough task, right?  WRONG!

Trying to find colors that are not too feminine or too masculine, searching for the perfect script font and questions like “should I use an icon in my logo?” became all-consuming.  I asked my husband, my friends and even my kids for opinions on dozens of logos that all looked pretty much the same, but slightly different.  I am sure I drove them all crazy!  But I’m pretty proud of the outcome and I love how it has all come together.   Here’s a little glimpse at my new branding…

There’s a few more changes on the horizon, so stay tuned!

Chris & Annie: Waiting on Baby

I met Chris and Annie just a few days before Christmas for a maternity session.  Aren’t they just adorable??  And judging by the looks of their sweet baby boy’s profile in the sonogram picture, he will be equally adorable.  The day was pretty overcast, but the weather wasn’t too chilly and we had a perfect location.  They were so much fun to work with!  I love that they were up for anything I suggested.  I wish them all the best as they venture into parenthood!

2013 Holiday Card Designs

Are you ready for the holidays?  Me either, but they are just around the corner now!  I have several new card designs that I am offering this year, in addition to those I have offered in years past.  All cards are 5×7 flat cards press-printed on high-quality cardstock.  They are all two-sided and some of the cards included in the gallery show the back side in addition to the front.  Many of the designs allow for 1-3 images to be added to the back of the card as well and messages can also be customized.  The cards are $35 and come in sets of 25 (with envelopes).

In addition to cards, I offer custom-designed albums in several sizes (6×6, 8×8, 10×10 and 12×12), mini-accordion albums that make great grandparent gifts, and of course, canvases in several styles.

I will be taking orders now through December 6th for all of these products to ensure delivery in time for the holidays.

Fall Family Mini-Sessions

Ok, I think it’s clear that I am AWFUL at blogging.  And I keep thinking that next year I’ll make a fresh start and try to blog sessions when clients are comfortable with it.  But I know myself, and I know it will never happen unless I start now.  So, here goes…

It has been an insanely busy Fall and I am so thankful!  I love having mini-sessions this time of year for a few reasons.  First, it helps to ensure a spot for lots of clients in a short period of time.  I HATE having to turn away clients but the remainder of my year is generally booked by mid-September.  Mini-sessions ensure that I can give clients a spot when I have no more private sessions spots available.  Another reason I love to do them is because it gives me a chance to meet new families.  I am lucky to have met a lot of great people on this journey who I now call friends and I love to add to that list:)

The Fall sessions were a success despite a few cancellations because of sick kids (darn cold and flu season!).  I was happy to see some familiar faces and some new ones too.  Here are just a few of my favorites from a few of the families I saw…

Thank you to all of the families who came out for these sessions!  Now, I PROMISE you’ll see another blog post again very soon:)
