I am sooo behind on blog posts, but I really wanted to get a short “What to Wear” post up since I have a lot of upcoming family sessions over the next few months. After a family books their session, their next question is usually for suggestions about what to wear. My answer is usually the same, I suggest choosing two or three complimentary colors and throwing in patterns, textures and accessories to bring everything together. I know that advice can still leave people a little confused and the last thing I want is for clients to stress about outfits before their session.
With that in mind, I put together a few family looks for inspiration.
Where to find the pieces: Gap (dad’s shirt, jeans and shoes), Old Navy (mom’s, boy’s and girl’s complete looks) and Janie & Jack (boy’s hat).

And finally, I thought I would show how I put together outfits for my own family portraits. Photo credit goes to my incredibly talented friend, Devon O’Donnell! She always manages to make my crazy family look fantastic!
Hopefully these inspiration outfits will help you pull together a look for your fall family portraits. I can’t wait to see lots of familiar faces and some new ones over the next few months!
